Androids ban real money gambling from app marketplace

Androids and iPhones continue to battle for the best consumer ratings and the two smartphones are now even competing to provide the most favorable options for owners to play online blackjack, BlackjacksOnline.com reports.

Currently the best models on the market are Google's Android and the Apple iPhone, with BlackBerry coming in at a very distant third, according to the source. Although both companies have created successful software in terms of being up-to-par for online gambling enthusiasts, both operate very differently from each other and a new change from Android might put iPhone ahead.

Apple's iPhone may soon take the lead for gamblers who enjoy playing for real money, as Android has recently come out with new regulations that will prohibit players from using their phones to bet actual money.

The source reports that the new regulations have been put in place by Android developers as a way to prohibit under age owners from getting involved with gambling. The new rules will require that all apps on the Droid marketplace must be labeled as either appropriate for all ages, pre-teens, teenagers or mature. However, no games using real money will be allowed.

Apple has not yet followed suit, which may help gamblers debating which smartphone to buy finally make a decision.

Do you think Android has a right to prohibit real money gambling? Would you switch your phone to be able to play for money?
